There’s a brief flashback to several of the Jujutsu High adults discussing who the strongest grade 1 sorcerer is. Mei Mei, Nanami, and Gojo bring up Kusakabe. Kusakabe claims it’s someone other than himself or someone named Usami.
The story returns to Maki and Sukuna. Maki dodges another slash attempt from Sukuna. The previously damaged structure begins to collapse on them. Some automobiles in the building begin to topple, and Sukuna takes advantage of the situation by hurling slashes at them. Maki detects the cuts and attempts to protect herself, but is knocked aside by the car’s collision.
Sukuna grabs Maki and uses Cleave. Ino appears and attempts to strike, but Sukuna uses his slashes to cancel his technique. Sukuna realizes that Ino did not have Nanami’s weapon. Kusakabe then strikes Sukuna using Nanami’s cursed technique. Kusakabe realizes Sukuna has already devised their plan.
Maki returns. Even if Yuta survives, prolonging the fight with Sukuna would only exacerbate the situation. She wants to stop things as soon as possible. According to the narrator, when Gojo died, Kashimo, Higuruma, and Yuta delighted Sukuna with their Jujutsu skills. Sukuna was eager to battle Maki because she had given up her jujutsu in return for a Heavenly Restriction.
Maki chops a pillar and sends it to Sukuna. Sukuna rapidly moves away from his position and grabs Maki’s face. He compliments Maki, saying she’s not like Yuji. Maki suffers facial injuries as a result of the incident. Sukuna describes jujutsu as the skin and flesh, but Maki’s body as the bone and essence. He claims Maki’s existence contradicts jujutsu.
He also claims that their battle will establish whether it is preferable to improve one’s jujutsu or physical physique. Maki knows Sukuna has ceased mending himself. Sukuna uses Black Flash on Maki. Kusakabe can’t believe he’s the last person remaining. He does not feel he is capable of murdering Sukuna.
