It is thought that the Gujarat Titans would miss Hardik Pandya. However, experienced bowler Brad Hogg believes the squad is in a strong position even without the great all-rounder. The former cricketer feels Hardik’s absence from the team isn’t a major loss.
There are fewer than ten days till the start of IPL 2024. Hardik Pandya will head the Mumbai Indians in the 17th edition of the competition. He was assigned charge of the team in lieu of Rohit Sharma. Gujarat won the IPL 2022 title, led by the outstanding all-rounder. The next season, the squad advanced to the finals but were defeated by Chennai in the title match. Hardik will now play for Mumbai. Meanwhile, a former Australian spinner has issued a strong comment about the former Gujarat skipper.
Gujarat will not miss Hardik
It is thought that the Gujarat Titans would miss Hardik Pandya. However, experienced bowler Brad Hogg believes the squad is in a strong position even without the great all-rounder. The former cricketer feels Hardik’s absence from the team isn’t a major loss.
Hogg said, “I don’t believe Hardik Pandya is a significant loss (for the Gujarat Titans). Yes, he is a good all-rounder in the middle order, but they can handle that. They have several pretty good bowlers. He is there to bat at the top of the order, but I don’t believe he was the best fit, thus the team is better off without him.”
Hardik has scored 1348 runs and taken 73 wickets in 92 T20 international appearances for India. He debuted for Mumbai in 2015. In 92 IPL matches, Pandya has 1476 runs and 42 wickets.
Hogg recommended Mumbai to bat Hardik lower in the order. He went on to say, “It is preferable for Mumbai to have an Indian all-rounder bat further down the order, which I believe Hardik will do. I believe we will see Hardik at his best with the Mumbai Indians.”
